RICHMOND AGRICULTURAL GROUNDS, RICHMOND, ONTARIO
MEMBERSHIP: to the O.V.L.H.A. INC. is $8.00. All exhibitors must be members. Membership fees for 2003 will be deducted from this year's awarded prize money.
STABLING: is limited. Box stalls will be available at a fee of $20 per box stall. Exhibitors must supply their own bedding. Parking, rough camping, food & drinks are available on the grounds.
AMATEUR CARDS: A photocopy must be sent in with entries if entered in any classes requiring amateur status. Contact your breed association or the CEF for details on how to acquire an amateur card.
ENTRY FEES: Payment MUST be sent with entry forms or they will be considered late. Entries must be postmarked by JUNE 28th, 2002. Late entries will be charged an additional $10.00 per animal after that date.

RULES AND REGULATIONS
1. Entry forms must be completed in their entirety. ALL ENTRY FEES AND
MEMBERSHIP FEES MUST BE PAID IN FULL. Fees should be paid by cheque
or money order. Post-dated cheques will not be accepted. The
O.V.L.H.A. Inc. will not be responsible for any discrepancies arising over
cash forwarded with entries. Cheques and money orders are to be made
payable to "THE OTTAWA VALLEY LIGHT HORSE ASSOCIATION INC."
2. Entry fees will be returned at the discretion of the Show Committee
with the presentation of a signed veterinarian certificate. NO REFUNDS
WILL BE MADE THE DAY OF THE SHOW.
3. NO BOARDERS may enter their horse or pony under a stable name.
They must be entered under their own names on a SEPARATE ENTRY FORM.
4. POST ENTRIES will be accepted up to one hour before the beginning
of the morning and afternoon classes. Post entries fees will be as
on Page 1. This applies only to animals that are already entered
by the closing date.
5. CHAMPIONSHIP CLASSES nominations will be accepted up until one hour
before the scheduled time of the class. Description and name of the
animal must be in writing by owner or agent and given to the SHOW SECRETARY.
To be eligible for the Championship class, horses/ponies must have been
entered, shown and judged in at least one other class in their respective
divisions. The word ENTRY is only accessible when entering Championship
classes.
6. NUMBERS will be provided by the Show Secretary at a cost of $3.00
each which is refundable on return of the numbers at the end of the day.
A separate number is required for each animal entered.
7. All exhibitors entered at the O.V.L.H.A. show must have one million
dollar liability INSURANCE, valid in Ontario and must fill in the company
name, policy number, and expiry date on the entry form. The owner
of the policy must sign entry form. Proof of insurance may be asked
for on the day of the show.
8. A JUNIOR EXHIBITOR is a person who has not reached their 18th birthday
as of January 1st of the current year. The juniors age must be indicated
on the entry form. All juniors must have their entry form signed
by a parent or guardian. Proof of age must be available upon request
by a show official.
9. NO STALLIONS are permitted in Amateur or Junior Classes. Amateurs
must be 18 years of age, or older, as of January 1st of the current year
and have a current Amateur Card from the appropriate Associations.
10. Any discrepancies will be decided upon by the Show Committee of
the O.V.L.H.A. Inc.
11. PROTESTS must be made in writing to the Board of Directors within
two hours of the class for which the protest is being made. The protest
must be accompanied by $100.00 cash. DECISIONS MADE BY THE DIRECTORS
ARE FINAL.
12. Prize money will be WITHHELD from any exhibitor who interferes
with the judge during the course of the show. Any contact with the judge
must be done in the presence of the horse show chairperson. Time will be
granted following the horse show for any questions/comments directed towards
the judge.
13. Horses that have PULLED SHOES in an open class will be eligible
for the Championship class as long as they have entered the ring and made
at least one full round. If the shoe is pulled in a Championship
class, time will be allowed to put the shoe back on in order to complete
the class.
14. O.V.L.H.A will not provide an on-sight farrier.
15.The horse show will proceed rain or shine.

A. American Saddlebred - Open to all Registered Mares, Geldings &
Stallions of all ages.
B. Hackney Horse - Open to all Registered Mares, Geldings & Stallions

C. Standardbred Horse - Open to all Registered Mares, Geldings &
Stallions of all ages.
D. Shetland Pony - Open to all Registered Mares, Geldings &

CHILDREN'S SADDLE PONY DIVISION
4. SADDLE PONY OPEN - Open to ponies not exceeding 14.2 hands with appearance
of full mane & tail.
27. SADDLE PONY CHAMPIONSHIP - Open to ponies which have been judged
in Class #4.
CHILDREN'S PARADE PONY DIVISION
38. PARADE PONY OPEN - Open to ponies not exceeding 14.2 hands with
appearance of full mane & tail.
43. PARADE PONY CHAMPIONSHIP - Open to ponies which have been judged
in Class #38.
OPEN JUNIOR DIVISION
(see rules 8 and 9)
19. HARNESS PONY OPEN - Open to ponies not exceeding 14.2 hands with appearance of full mane and tail, shown to a suitable vehicle (2 or 4 wheel vehicle).
10. LEAD LINE CLASS - Open to all children 3 - 9 years of age. Child may ride horse/pony under Hunter, English or Western tack/attire. Handler & rider must be properly attired. Any animal not under complete control will be excused immediately from the ring. Rider must be able to sit in the saddle and hold the reins without handler's help. Animals will only be asked to walk. To be judged on rider's seat, neatness, and manners. Children who show in this class are not eligible to compete in any other class. $2.00 ENTRY FEE, ribbons only.
48. WALK/TROT - Open to children 12 years and under. Open to all ponies/light horses under Hunter, English or Western tack/attire. Animals will be asked to walk & trot both ways of the ring. Tie downs are not permitted. Children entered in this class are only eligible to compete in classes 19, 38, 43 and 26.
26. WALK/TROT EQUITATION - Children to be judged on their ability to ride and present their horse/pony at a walk & trot in a Hunter, English or Western tack/attire. Tie downs are not permitted. Children entered in this class are only eligible to compete in classes 19, 38, 43 and 48. $2.00 ENTRY FEE, ribbons only.
32. OPEN EQUITATION FOR JUNIOR RIDERS - Open to all horses/ponies, under Hunter, English or Western tack/attire. To be judged on rider's seat, manners of mount and neatness of turnout. Riders to be judged at a walk, trot & canter both ways of the ring. Simple pattern may be asked for. $2.00 ENTRY FEE, ribbons only.
56. JUNIOR HUNTER PLEASURE - Open to all horses/ponies.
To be ridden by a junior exhibitor at a walk, trot, canter and hand gallop
both directions of the ring.
60. JUNIOR HUNTER PLEASURE CHAMPIONSHIP - Open to all horses/ponies
which have been judged in Class #56. To be ridden by a junior exhibitor
at a walk, trot, canter and hand gallop both directions of the ring.
22. SIT-A-BUCK - This class is designed to be a fun class
during the lunch hour for juniors. ENTRY FEE $2.00. Riders
will ride bare-back with a (fake) dollar bill between their thigh and the
horse. Juniors will be asked to walk, trot, canter and halt.
When the bill is dropped, the rider is excused from the ring. The
last rider takes the winnings. No chaps, leather or suede pants
or bare legs permitted - jeans only.
CANADIAN HACKNEY SOCIETY JUNIOR EXHIBITOR DIVISION
Open to juniors under the age of 18 years as of January 1st of the current year and members of the Canadian Hackney Society, or an immediate relative of a CHS member. Juniors will compete for the OVLHA CHS Junior Challenge Trophy. To be judged on manners, quality and performance, with emphasis on drivers? ability. 50% drivers? ability and 50% suitability of animal. Attendants permitted in all classes except showmanship. Cross-entries permitted. ENTRY FEE $2.00. Ribbons only.
H. CHS JUNIOR HACKNEY SHOWMANSHIP - To be judged on their ability to show a registered Hackney, mare or gelding, on the line.
55. JUNIOR HACKNEY DRIVING COMPETITION - Open to single registered Hackney ponies or horses, to be driven by a junior.
47. HACKNEY ROADSTER PONY ? Open to single registered Hackney ponies 12.2 hands and under. Drivers must be 9 years of age or older. Ponies to be shown at a jog and road-gait the first direction of the ring and a jog, road-gait and drive-on the second direction. Drivers to wear stable colours & helmet and to drive a suitable 2-wheel road card.
58. HACKNEY PLEASURE PONY - Open to single registered Hackney ponies 14.2 hands and under. Ponies to be shown at a pleasure trot and road-trot.
61. HACKNEY PLEASURE PONY RIDEN BY A JUNIOR - Open to single registered
Hackney ponies 14.2 hands & under. Ponies to be shown at a pleasure
trot & flat walk under English tack and attire.
